I couldn't end this post without giving you a homework assignment. You can leave teaching, but teaching will never leave you! LOL Anyway, I want you to make a list of ALL of the people who:
- stress you out,
- drain you,
- shoot down your dreams,
- are never there for you, but always have something to say about you,
- always seem to have drama in their lives
- never have anything positive to say
- make you feel like you are walking on egg shells, etc.
It doesn't matter if this person or these people are your family, "friends", coworkers or neighbors. If they keep you on guard or have you feeling anything but happy, PUT THEM ON THE LIST! For the next seven days I want you to have absolutely nothing to do with these people. Don't answer their text messages, calls, or unannounced visits. If it's family, respond with a quick text that you are fine but very busy (We don't want them to file a missing persons report.). If it's a coworker, keep it strictly business related. Excuse yourself to the restroom or a fake emergency call or text when they start to gossip or whatever they do to drain you. When this seven day negative energy detox is over, pay attention to and take note of how you feel. If you feel calmer and relaxed, you already have your answer about who and what needs to be removed from YOUR life!
I was a little stressed at first, but moving and not letting anyone but my parents know where I lived really made a huge change in my life! That may be a bit drastic for some, but after 5 years in the same place I was ready to move. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I was this happy, relaxed, and productive! I got rid of all of the toxic "friendships", blocked negative people, and distanced myself from the drama kings and queens who drained every last drop of my patience and energy from my body. Don't worry about what others think or say.
Remember, not everyone deserves a front row seat in your life! Follow your dreams and connect with other like minded aspiring mompreneurs.
